Phyllis D. Maxwell, know to most as Dolly, was born November 23, 1932 to Michael and Catherine Silvestera in Lansdale, PA. and grew up in Ambler with her 5 siblings. She attended public school there and made some many life-long friendships. After school she began her family life and gave birth to her only child Michelle.
Throughout her life she wore many hats working as a waitress, restaurant owner, nanny and florist. She always had a passion for helping others. This was evident in her volunteer work at New Season's Assisted living in Chalfont, the Care and Share thrift Shop, and Laurel's Loft. She was a devout Christian who found her way to Ambler Mennonite church after returning home from St. Thomas Virgin Islands as a widow. Dolly found joy in making floral arrangements for Sunday service.
She was always there for people and the first to reach out and ask if there was anything she could do to help. After the devastating loss of her daughter at an early age she did not hesitate to step in and became a mother once again to her granddaughter Amanda.
Dolly appreciated the finer things but lived simple frugal life. She had a beautiful home which she took pride in maintaining. Especially her flower garden. She also maintained and was admired for her extensive wardrobe which was very stylish but a classic look.
Dolly had a very spirited personality and didn't hesitate to tell you how she felt about something good or bad. She was kind and often very generous. She would do anything for anyone if it was within her power. Dolly taught us many things, but most importantly how to love, how to cherish and how to do the right thing in all things.
Dolly was preceded in death by her parents Michael and Catherine. Her 5 siblings Michael, John, Bernice, Cassie and Patricia. Her beautiful daughter Michelle and her grandson Nelson. She is survived by 4 grandchildren Charles, Donald, Richard and Amanda. 2 great grandchildren Richard and Renee and a host of nieces and nephews.
