Richard P. Flam

February 9, 1943 — October 31, 2025

Richard P. Flam, 82, of Doylestown, PA, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025, at Pine Run Health Center, from complications of Parkinson's disease.

Richard was the loving husband of the late Ann (Kocin) Flam for over 53 years.

Born February 9, 1943, he was a son of the late William and Jean (Mantell) Flam.

From a young age, Richard showed a remarkable interest and aptitude in electronic communication, starting with short wave radio as a boy. He parlayed this interest into a successful career as an accomplished engineer and physicist, earning him Fellowship in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).  Richard earned a degree in physics from Rensselaer Polyechnic Institute and went on to found the engineering firm  Flam & Russell, Inc. (now Orbit/FR, Inc.), where he was CEO. In 1992, the firm earned a certificate of commendation from the U.S. government for its work on the B-2 stealth aircraft.

Richard eventually sold Flam & Russell, which enabled him to retire and travel widely with Ann before her death in 2020. They enjoyed traveling together, especially to Europe, as well as trips on cruise ships.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Karen Flam, of Doylestown; his son, Brian Flam (Jennifer), of Glen Burnie, Maryland; his granddaughter, Allison Flam, of Fort Collins, Colorado; his sister, Barbara (Flam) Arbuss, of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of gifts and flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Israel Guide Dog Center.
