Richard W. Nyce

December 18, 1919 — October 9, 2013

Richard W. "Dick" Nyce, 93, went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Miriam H. "Mim" Nyce, to whom he was married 67 years.

Born December 18, 1919 in Lower Salford Township, Montgomery County, PA, he was a son of the late Jacob K. and Annie G. (Wasser) Nyce.

Richard graduated from Schwenksville High School. He went on to proudly serve with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Atlantic Theater on a Sub Chaser and the Pacific Theater on Water Tanker U.S.S. Severn AO-61. Richard enjoyed 35 years of retirement after being employed for 30 years with PECO at Barbados Island Generating Station, West Norriton Township, Montgomery County, PA.

Richard was a life member of Warren Lodge #310 F & AM, and a charter member of Collegeville H-12, Rajah Temple of Blandon, PA, & Lehigh Consistory of Allentown. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing and belonged to Bonnell Run Hunting and Fishing Corporation in Morris, PA. He also enjoyed hunting trips to Canada and Colorado. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his produce with friends and family. He and Mim also enjoyed travelling all over the United States and abroad as well as entertaining their friends for cards. His greatest joy, however, was his family. He was so proud of and enjoyed being with each of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

As a child he attended Eden Mennonite Church in Schwenksville, PA. Dick was a past member of Norristown Schwenkfelder Church and later belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Norristown where he served as Trustee for each.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Jay R. Nyce and his wife, Terri, his daughter Linda J. Stiteler and her husband, Richard, and his son David C. Nyce and his wife, Cathy. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Mae & Alice Nyce and June Detwiler, his twin brother, Russell, and his brothers, John, Harvey, Harold and Vincent Nyce.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M. on Saturday, October 19th in Dock Woods Community Chapel, 275 Dock Dr., Lansdale, PA 19446, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be private.
