Rita J. Proud

Rita J. Proud, 72, of Lansdale, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026. She was the beloved wife of the late James M. Proud, who passed November 13, 2004.

Born February 9, 1954 in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late LaForrest and Pearl (Eckhart) Rhodes.

Rita was a longtime member of Lansdale United Methodist Church. Earlier in life, she was employed as a hospice aide and later became a foster parent and adopted three of her sons. Her hobbies included crocheting and baking.

Survivors include her children, Sheila M. Newman (Brett) of Lansdale, Gary A. Groff, Daniel J. Proud (Ashley) of Exeter, PA, Martin J. Proud of Lansdale, and Jacob T. Proud of Lansdale; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Tereasa Jenkins (Daniel) of North Wales, and Susan Reinert (Richard) of Pottstown.

Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
