Robert R. Dearden IV, 88, of Telford, passed away Sunday April 19, 2015 at the Lutheran Community at Telford. He was the husband of the late Joyce D. Dearden, who passed on April 5, 2015.
Born July 31, 1926, in Abington, Robert was a son of the late Louise B. (Snyder) and Robert R. Dearden III. Robert proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II. He was a longtime member of the Jenkintown VFW, the Masons, and a member of the American Legion for 50 years.
Robert spent most of his life volunteering, including any sports or clubs of which his children where a part, Treasurer of the Jenkintown Youth Activities, President of the Jenkintown PTA, and as a Cub Scout Leader. He received the Love Award for Outstanding Volunteer from Grand View Hospital and logged 3000 hours of volunteer service.
Robert was also a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Melrose Park, where he served on the Church counsel and the music and worship committees.
Robert leaves behind four sons, Robert B. Dearden and his wife, Debra, of Abington, Richard D. Dearden of Hatfield, Gregory R. Dearden and his wife, Lorraine, of Harleysville, James A. Dearden and his wife, Kathleen, of Perkasie; five grandchildren, Scott, Amanda, Benjamin, William, and Kyle; three great grandchildren, Matthew, Jackson, and Amaya; and brothers, John Dearden and Oliver Dearden.
Relatives and friends may greet the family, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Lutheran Community at Telford, , 12 Lutheran Home Dr., Telford, PA 18969 where a Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, Kulpsville.
