Robert Heath (79) of Lansdale, PA passed away with his wife and daughters by his side on April 30, 2025. A devoted husband, father, friend, and "Poppy", Robert's life was defined by his unwavering love for family and his zest for life's simple joys.
Born on June 26, 1945 in Queens, NY Robert pursued a career in civil engineering after earning his bachelor's degree from Villanova University in 1967. Over the course of more than six decades, he worked in various roles across multiple companies. Eventually he started his own business, where he worked up until his very last days.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife Sharon (Grossman) Heath. Married for over 60 years, together they built a life centered on love and family. He was a proud father to four daughters: Susan Bacovin and her husband John of Bordentown NJ, Sherry Fitzgerald and her husband Brendan of New Hope PA, Amy Watson and her husband Mark of Farmington CT, and Megan Cheeseman and her husband Ryan of Lansdale PA. Robert loved "his boys" like they were his very own. In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by his sisters-in-law Susanna Heath and Karen Burlein, as well as beloved niece Cindy Grossman Rittenhouse, and nephews James and Edward Grossman and their families.
Nothing brought Bob more joy than being "Poppy" to his twelve grandchildren: Anna, Robby, and Elizabeth; Connor, Grace, and Dylan; Emma, Madeline, and Caroline; Jacob, Rylie, and RJ. Each one held a special place in his heart. Whether it was cheering from the sidelines at sporting events—rain or shine—or celebrating milestones like graduations and recitals, Poppy was always there with Nanny by his side.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Lionel and Florence Heath; by his brother Lionel R. Heath; and brother-in-law Ronald G. Grossman.
A true family man at heart, Bob found happiness in the everyday moments shared with those he loved most. Some of his most peaceful days were spent sitting on the porch at Bear Swamp Road in Honesdale spending time with loved ones. Sunday dinners at home were often lively gatherings filled with laughter and chaos, just the way he liked it. He cherished having all of his grandchildren together in the jacuzzi for their signature popsicle toast "To the Goodlife!"
Bob took great pride in maintaining his yard. He found peace planting flowers and caring for the pool, transforming his backyard into a haven of relaxation. He was an avid golfer who looked forward to weekly games with friends and especially enjoyed teeing off with his grandsons.
Summers were sacred to Bob. Family vacations to Long Beach Island and the Outer Banks were annual traditions where he could be found body surfing, playing in the sand, or competing in cornhole tournaments with children and grandchildren alike. Days ended with happy hour and sunsets over the water, a ritual he treasured.
A passionate fan of Philadelphia sports teams, Robert followed the Phillies, Eagles, and Villanova basketball religiously. There was nothing he enjoyed more than listening to the Phillies in the Jacuzzi on summer nights.
Robert "Poppy" Heath lived a life rich in love, laughter, and legacy. May his memory continue to bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.
