Robert Louis Stephenson, Jr.

Sergeant Robert Louis Stephenson Jr., 88, of Lansdale, husband of the late Martha (Kauffmann) Stephenson, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Gwynedd Healthcare with close friends and family by his side.


Born in Germantown, he was the son of the late Robert Louis Stephenson Sr. and Stella (Keagle) Stephenson.


Sergeant Stephenson began his Law Enforcement career first with the Ambler Police Department and then was hired by the Upper Gwynedd Police Department which he served for 36 years retiring in 1997. While working for the Upper Gwynedd Police Department he received his FBI National Certification and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police for over 50 years. Sergeant Stephenson was a founding member of the North Penn Tactical Team, was a certified firearms instructor, and owned and operated Stephenson's Gun Repair. He was the oldest living retired Upper Gwynedd Police Officer.


Surviving is his son James Stephenson; daughters Gretchen Dodge, and Cathy Annis; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.


A Celebration of Life will be held by the family in the coming weeks.
