Robert "Bob" H. Tanis

Robert “Bob” H. Tanis, 95, of Hatfield, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026. Born on March 28, 1931, in Hawthorne, NJ, Bob was the son of Henry and Clara (Koman) Tanis.

Bob graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1948. On June 16, 1962, he married Conny (Hughan) Tanis, and together they celebrated 64 years of devoted partnership and love. After marrying Conny, he became a member of St. John’s UCC in Lansdale, PA, a community that remained important to him throughout his life.

A Master Machinist, Bob spent his entire career with Greene Tweed & Co., where his skill, precision, and work ethic earned deep respect.

Bob’s lifelong passion for antique cars led him to the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, Inc., where he found friendship and joy in preserving automotive history. Music was another of Bob’s great loves—he delighted in playing his large collection of harmonicas, often performing alongside Conny.

Known affectionately as “Uncle Bob” to many nieces, nephews, and friends, he had a special gift for connecting with children. He was always ready with a magic trick, puzzle, or playful moment. He enjoyed Rummikub, cherished time with family, and through his example taught his sons how to be good fathers. Bob was adored by family both here and abroad.

Bob was predeceased by his parents; his brother and sister‑in‑law, Hank and Shirley Tanis; and his grandniece, Erica Joyce Hendricks.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Conny J. Tanis of Hatfield; his children Chad Tanis (Carolyn), Bryan Tanis (Kristin), both of Hatfield, and Lynda Harger (Bob) of Harleysville, PA; sisters-in-law Margie Hughan (Mike Bochey) and Debby Hendricks (Steve); ten wonderful grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who brought him immense joy.

The family will receive friends starting 9:30 am on Saturday August 8, 2026, at St. John’s UCC Church, 500 W. Main St. Lansdale, Pa 19446, with Celebration of Life Services at 11:00 am. 

Bob will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend—gentle, joyful, and endlessly kind.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John's UCC Church, 550 W. Main St. Lansdale, Pa.
