It is with profound sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Sally Brumbaugh, who left us on June 11, 2025 at the age of 80, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer's disease. A cherished spouse, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Sally was the keeper of traditions, filled with unconditional love, and deeply committed to helping others and sharing in their experiences.
Born in Philadelphia, Sally lived a life rooted in kindness, strength, resilience, and grace. After graduating from Abington High School as a member of the swim and field hockey teams, she went on to receive a degree in Elementary Education from the College of William and Mary. Sally began her career teaching 2nd Grade at Hamilton Avenue Elementary School in Abington. Later, after taking time to start her family, she was employed by the Pitcairn Company in payroll and then Merck & Company in accounts receivable.
Sally was committed to service, her community, and her faith as an Elder and Sunday School teacher at Grace Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown and later as an Elder and Office Assistant at Lenape Valley Church in New Britain. She was a member of the Doylestown Chapter of the Philanthropic Educational Organization sisterhood, celebrating the advancement of women. And, even in passing, serves to foster learning and research for generations to come, through her generous donation of her body to the Humanity Gifts Registry.
In her spare time, Sally enjoyed reading, walking, and playing cards -- especially Pinochle and Bridge. She was infamous for her baking, carrying on labor intensive family traditions such as sand tarts, cherry pie, and crumb cake, spreading joy with every bite! Her home was a place of comfort, her table always open, and her heart even more so.
Sally had an incredible gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued. Through her quiet presence, she had a way of making everything—and everyone—better. Her love was constant and her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched.
She is survived by her spouse Thomas Brumbaugh, children, John (Amanda) Brumbaugh and Lynne (Bob) Heyl, her grandchildren, Toree (Jim) Boyle, Nickee Brumbaugh, and Nolan Heyl, a great grandchild, Christopher Boyle, and her sister Ellie (Cal) Luders, along with a wide circle of extended family and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
A celebration of life will be held at Lenape Valley Church on Thursday, July 10, 2025. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM with Service at 11:00 AM and a reception immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to the Peace Valley Nature Center or to the Lenape Valley Church Adult and Youth Mission.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that love like hers never fades. It simply lives on in each of us.
