Scott E. Hafer

Oct 12, 1965 — Jul 7, 2026

Scott E. Hafer, 60, passed away suddenly on July 7, 2026. Born in York, Pennsylvania, he was the beloved son of Barbara Hafer-Prout and the late David E. Hafer, also his stepfather, Ronald Prout.

Scott graduated from North Penn High School and Ursinus College. He enjoyed a successful career as a Supply Chain Manager with Merck & Co. for over 26 years, retiring in 2021. Retirement gave him more time to pursue the things he loved most—tinkering in the garage and yard, spending time outdoors, and above all, making memories with his family.

Scott's greatest joy in life was his family, including their beloved dog, Zoey. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. His heart and soul are in Hammersley Fork, Pennsylvania, where he built a family cabin that became a place filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

A gifted photographer with an exceptional eye for nature, Scott received numerous awards for his work. Family vacations to Long Beach Island were never complete without the annual family portrait, carefully planned and photographed by Scott, creating keepsakes that will be treasured for generations.

In recent years, Scott developed a passion for finding, restoring, and collecting John Deere tractors. He became a familiar and beloved sight on the corner of his neighborhood, where neighbors often smiled as they watched him whistling and rocking out to AC/DC while tinkering around in the garage.

Scott will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his dedication to everything he pursued, and his remarkable ability to make everyone around him laugh.

Scott is survived by his soulmate, high school sweetheart, and devoted wife of 37 years, Michelle Hafer; his loving children, David J. and his wife, Jessica, Jason S., and Sarah J. Hafer. He is also survived by his loving Serbeniuk family; his mother-in-law, Sarah Serbeniuk; his sister-in-law, Sallyanne (Serbeniuk) Englert and her husband, Greg; his brother-in-law, John Serbeniuk and his wife, Emily (Donegan); and his beloved nieces and nephew, Samantha Englert, Owen Serbeniuk, and Maya Serbeniuk.

Scott was the patriarch of his family. His love, laughter, and legacy will live on in all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kettle Creek-Tamarack Sportsman Association or a charity of your choice in Scott's memory.
