Susan L. Chen, 51, of Hatfield, passed away unexpectedly November 17, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Lorenzo Chen.
Born September 21, 1961 in Glens Falls, NY, she was a daughter of the late Olin W. and Doris E. (West) Loughrey.
Susan held a PhD from U.C.S.F. and worked as a scientist in the pharmaceutical industry. She loved to rock climb and hike. In addition she enjoyed knitting and gardening. Susan also spent much of her free time volunteering with the Valley Youth House in Norristown. Lastly, Susan greatly enjoyed travelling back to her home town of Glens Falls for the Adirondack Balloon Festival each year.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children Elise Victoria and Christopher Thomas Chen and her siblings, William, Gary, Robert, Jean, Janet, Sally and Sarah. She also leaves behind her foster parents, Thomas and Edith Dolan.
A viewing will be held from 2-5 Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, PA 19446. Services and interment will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Susan's name to the Valley Youth House, 2500 DeKalb Pike Ste. 202, Norristown, PA 19401.
