Virginia Bunn Hart

Nov 22, 1926 — Oct 5, 2026

Virginia Bunn Hart, 99, passed away peacefully on October 5th, 2026 at Masonic Village at Warminster. For more than 65 years she resided in Hatboro, Pennsylvania where she and her loving husband, Bruce built their life; they were married for 71 years. In her final days, Virginia was surrounded by her family.

Born at the Northwestern General Hospital in Philadelphia on November 22, 1926. She was the oldest child of the late John A. Bunn and Miriam (Goodyear) Bunn. Virginia graduated from Girl’s High in Philadelphia in 1944. In 1947 she graduated with a nursing degree under the Cadet Nurse Corps program from Jewish Hospital on North Broad St., Philadelphia (now Einstein Medical Center, Jefferson.) Bunny, as her family knew her, expected to serve in WW2 as an army nurse but fortunately the war had ended by the time she graduated.

From 1947 – 1954 Bunny worked at Jewish Hospital as head nurse of Men’s surgical ward, and later as a private duty nurse. She returned to Einstein Medical Center in 1976 to work in the Utilization Review Department with several of the women she had gone to nursing school with, finally retiring in 1991.

Bunny was a girl scout as a child, then a troop leader as a young woman and again from the mid 1960’s through the mid ‘70’s. She was often the camp nurse for the scout day camp at Breyer’s estate in Elkins Park. Her favorite Girl Scout camp was Indian Run in Glenmoore, Pa. Bunny was very fond of games and planning activities for parties and picnics. There are plenty of fun stories stemming from her games at the annual neighborhood Luau.

In retirement Bunny and Bruce drove across the country, visiting with family along the way and enjoyed time at the Jersey shore. Bunny and Bruce hosted large family gatherings at their not so large home in Hatboro; but those events were tremendous fun for her extended family. Bunny could often be found out with close friends, at Goodyear family reunions or with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bunny is predeceased by her husband Bruce Donahue Hart (in 2025), her Sister Carolyn Bunn Grimmer, her brother John A. Bunn 3rd, and her granddaughter Samantha Hart. She is survived by her four sons, Stephen Hart (Nancy), Eric Hart (Barbara), Peter Hart (Denise), and Andrew Hart (Karin); and her daughter, Virginia Hart Oldt (Michael) as well as her sister Miriam Bunn Sedergran. Bunny is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Grandchildren include Joseph, Scott, Stephen, Patrick, Matthew and John. Great Grandchildren include Angel, Shaenah, Sasha, Selenah, Scott, Elara, Leo and Chloe.

In accordance with her wishes, Bunny’s body has been donated to advance medical education and research.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Parkinson’s Foundation (The Parkinson's Foundation.)

Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home.
