Obituary: Walter (Walt) Stadlin, P.E.
Walter (Walt) Stadlin, P.E., passed away peacefully in Lansdale in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, 2025, at the age of 96.
He is survived by his three sons Arthur (husband of Kim Stadlin), Arnold (husband of Sunny Stadlin), Alan (husband of Donna Stadlin), as well as his grandchildren Stephanie, Christina, Eric, Alex, and Victoria, as well as five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Pauline, his second wife, Mae Stadlin (Fetterman) and by his parents, Arthur and Hedy Stadlin.
Born on February 15, 1929 in the Netherlands, Walt immigrated to the United States in 1934. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT) in 1952. Following his service in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, he began a long and distinguished career in electrical engineering. Walt worked for the Leeds & Northrup Company and later earned his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1963.
Over the course of his 55-year career as a Power System Electrical Engineer and Consultant, Walt made significant contributions to the utility and railroad industries. His leadership and expertise were recognized worldwide, culminating in his designation as a Life Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)—an honor awarded to fewer than 1% of members.
Walt and his wife Pauline raised their three sons with love, wisdom, and a deep commitment to learning and perseverance. He is remembered fondly by his family as a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who encouraged his children to pursue their goals with purpose.
The family will receive friends starting 10:30 am Friday, June 20, 2025 at Central Schwenkfelder Church, 2111 Valley Forge Rd, Lansdale, PA 19446, where Walt was a member and has served as a deacon, with Celebration of Life Services at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated caregivers, hospice staff, and medical professionals at Brittany Pointe who provided Walt with such compassionate care in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brittany Pointe Estates Residents Association (BPERA), an organization that reflects Walt's values and supports the community that cared for him.
