Wendy Noelle Ericsson, 60, of Lansdale died Monday, July 27, 2020. She was the beloved wife of George Ericsson, her husband of 35 years.
Born Christmas Day, 1959 in Massapequa, NY, she was a daughter of the late John and Gloria (Buscemi) Garrett.
She attended Lower Moreland High School and was a graduate of Muhlenberg College. Wendy was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she served on a number of committees and sang in the contemporary ensemble. She loved music, a good book, traveling, her family and friends, and a good lemon drop martini made by George.
After being diagnosed with cancer, Wendy focused much of her efforts into fundraising for The Foundation for Women's Cancer. As a top fundraiser, and due to her commitment to finding a cure for gynecological cancers, she was asked to chair the National Race to End Women's Cancer in Washington, DC from 2017-2020. All told, her team, Wendy's Warriors raised over $125,000 for the Foundation. As a patient advocate for the uterine cancer group within the NRG Oncology organization, she participated in reviews of clinical research protocols.
Earlier in her life Wendy was a strong supporter of women and children via her leadership role in the Lansdale/North Penn Mothers Group. She also co-created a special education support group focused on ensuring special needs children got the full educational benefits legally due them.
In addition to her husband, Wendy is survived by her sons, Daniel G. Ericsson (Alysia) of Cambridge, MA), and Kyle J. Ericsson of Lansdale; three sisters, Linda Sweet (William) of Fairfax, VA, Susan Garrett of Pedricktown, NJ, Leslie Ritchie (William) of Pedricktown, NJ; and eleven nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Strickland.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Wendy may be made to The Foundation for Women's Cancer, Wendy's Warriors at https://runsignup.com/wendys-warriors or, via mail, to 230 W Monroe, Suite 710, Chicago IL 60606 noting the donation should be directed toward her team's effort.
Planning of a Celebration of Life Service that can be done safely during the pandemic is underway and specifics will be shared directly with family and friends. Interment at Trinity Lutheran Church will be private.
Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
