William C. "Bill" Holz passed away peacefully on 07 Oct 2018 at Moravian Village in Bethlehem, PA. He was 87. He was the only child of the late Carl and Ethel (Britton) Holz. He was a long time resident of Huntingdon Valley, PA
He was born in Springfield, IL and graduated from Springfield High School in 1949. He attended Northwestern University and then went on to Bradley University where he earned a B.S. in Political Science and an M.A. in Psychology. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Southern Illinois University. After working as a Research Associate at Harvard University he left academia to accept a position as a Research Scientist for SmithKline and French Laboratories in Philadelphia. Later in his career he returned to his home state of Illinois and was employed as a Clinical Psychologist at the Chester Mental Health Center. He loved animals and was a life-long learner. In his leisure he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and time spent with family at the Jersey shore.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Marjorie. He was the loving father to Jill Holz (Andrew), Julie Yerkes (Richard), Carl (Janice) and Georg (Elizabeth); grandfather to Melissa, Richard, Dana, Sara, Christopher, Devon, Sydney, Maxwell, Kathryn and Eric; great grandfather to Jack and Mackenzie.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory may be made to support local childhood hunger relief through the website www.bethlehemnazarenes.org/give . Bill's funeral service and interment will be held privately at Whitemarsh Memorial Park on 13 Oct 2018.
