William L. Kane

William L. "Bill" Kane, 89, of Lansdale, died Saturday, June 6, 2020.  He was the beloved husband of Evelyn (Maurais) Kane, with whom he would have celebrated 68 years of marriage on June 7.

Born July 29, 1930 in Lowell, MA, he was the son of the late William and Hannah (Powers) Kane.

Mr. Kane graduated from Keith Academy High School in 1947 and went to work for Stop and Shop Supermarkets, Inc. of Boston, shortly thereafter.  A veteran of the US Navy, he proudly served his country during the Korean War.  In 1971, Bill moved with his family to Lansdale to resume his career in the food industry.  He worked as a buyer for a small supermarket chain in the area until 1985.  He then joined Advo Systems, Inc. in King of Prussia, PA until his retirement in 1996.

Bill was a member of St. Stanislaus parish in Lansdale and of the American Legion.  In his younger years, he played baseball as a second baseman through his high school years.  He was a staunch fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Patriots.  He enjoyed gardening and being outside to visit with anyone that walked by his house.  Bill's family meant everything to him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Pamela Paraskewik (William) of Hatfield, William R. Kane (Laurie) of Lansdale, Barbara K. Hunsberger (Bryan) of Schwenksville, and Debra Lukens (David) of Lansdale; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Donahoe.

Relatives and friends are invited to a "drive-through" visitation between 2:00 and 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale.  Please remain in your vehicle throughout the visitation.  Funeral services and burial will be private in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Alzheimer's Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
