Richard G. Wert

November 17, 1940 — April 14, 2012

Richard G. Wert, 71, of Lansdale, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Hoog) Wert, his wife of 48 years.

Born November 17, 1940 in Cincinnati, OH, he was a son of the late C.G. and Flora Mae (Walz) Wert.

Mr. Wert was employed as a salesman in the steel industry for over 35 years, retiring in 2004. He was a gentle giant of a man, always willing to share a story and had a natural talent to make you smile. Dick enjoyed the company of his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He had a passion for travel and fifties automobiles. He cherished his 1956 Chevrolet, taking it on as many trips as possible and attending local car shows in the Tri-State area. An avid collector of art, antiques, and the unusual, Dick could share many a tale in great detail. He will certainly be missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jeffrey G. Wert and Michael G. Wert, both of Lansdale, and Gregory G. Wert and wife Stacy of North Wales; his daughter, Deb Bovell and husband Ed of Harleysille; seven grandchildren, Suzanne, Kellye, Tracy, Allison, Eddie, Tyler, and Charlotte; his great-grandson, Dominic; and his brother, David Wert and wife Harriet of Cincinnati.

The viewing will be held between 6 and 8 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. A second viewing will begin 9 a.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Church, 900 Sumneytown Pike, Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Garden of Memories, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Manna on Main Street, 713 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446.
