Douglas Turner Barber, 30, of Telford and formerly of Harleysville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
Born November 26, 1993 in Abington, he was the beloved son of Thomas E. Barber, of Lakewood Ranch, FL, and Judith E. Barber, of East Greenville, PA, and stepson of Rita Bratsano.
Doug was a longtime employee of Hatfield Ice. He graduated from North Penn High School in 2012, and he attended Montgomery County Community College and Penn State University's Berks Campus. He loved ice hockey, working with kids, cooking, gaming, and his family, including his many cousins.
Doug loved his time with North Penn Ice Hockey, Penn State Berks Ice Hockey, and Hatfield Ice, and he was an avid Phillies, Flyers, and St. Louis Blues fan. He was most proud of his time as a camp counselor at Camp KO, where he coached youth hockey for eight consecutive summers. Doug had many lifelong friends in the hockey community and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Kelly M. Barber of Harwich, MA; and his twin brother, Scott T. Barber of East Greenville.
A visitation will be held between 2:00 and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale, followed by the Funeral Service at 3:30 p.m. Interment will be private. All guests are invited to wear blue as it was Doug's favorite color and the color of his favorite hockey team, the St. Louis Blues.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Penn Ice Hockey, P.O. Box 1303, Lansdale, PA 19446.
