Dr. Gary G. Carpenter, 94, of Lansdale, died Saturday, March 9, 2024.  He was the beloved husband of Evelyn (Flint) Carpenter.

Born August 25, 1929 in San Francisco, he was a son of the late Arthur and Elsa (Von Springer) Carpenter.

Dr. Carpenter worked as a pediatric endocrinologist at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for more than fifty years. He was an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Jefferson Medical College where he enjoyed teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in addition to his patient care responsibilities.

Gary had many hobbies, including rowing, kayaking, bicycling, and flying sailplanes with the Flying Dutchmen.  He also enjoyed painting and music, especially jazz, and he played numerous instruments, including piano, vibraphone, ukulele, accordion, mandolin, and the melodica.  He especially loved playing jazz at Ristorante Toscano in Lansdale for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jeb Stuart Carpenter of Melbourne Beach, FL, and Quincy Anne Carpenter (Shane Campbell) of Swarthmore; three grandchildren, Kyrié Sue Dean (Zachary), Clara Everley Campbell, and Alden Anna Campbell; and a great-granddaughter, Finley Alice Dean.

Funeral services will be held privately in Washington Memorial Chapel, King of Prussia.  Details for a public memorial service will be announced at a later date.  Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Dr. Carpenter's memory to the Case-based Learning Program at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, 125 S. 9th Street, Suite 600, Philadelphia, PA 19107.  Please make checks payable to "Sidney Kimmel Medical College" and include "Dr. Carpenter: Case-based Learning" in memo line.
