John J. Meisel III, 81, of Lansdale and formerly of Fort Wayne, IN, died Thursday, March 28, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Wahl) Meisel, his wife of 56 years.
Born August 26, 1942 in New York City, he was a son of the late Catherine (Selbeck) and John J. Meisel II.
Mr. Meisel was employed as a financial analyst with GE for many years before retiring from Lockhead Martin as a financial director. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War.
Before graduating from Penn State University, John was a standout lacrosse player and won the 1962 NCAA National Championship with Penn State University where he also held a number of individual records. He was an avid swimmer, golfer, hunter, and history reader.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his siblings, Gerald Meisel (Barbara) of Roselle, IL, Barbara Tucker of Commack NY, and Christine Tobin of Islip, NY; a number of nieces and nephews; his son-in-law, James Malloy and his wife, Christine, of Bloomfield Hills, MI; and his extended family, including the Nancy Riley Family, Sandy and Larry Cranberg Family, and Nic Wahl Family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Meisel-Malloy, Penn State Class of 1995; and brothers-in-aw, Thomas Riley and Bob Tucker.
Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. June 11, 2024 at St. Mary's Visitation Catholic Parish, 1260 Church Street, Elm Grove, WI, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
