Linford "Lin" Michener

Linford "Lin" Michener, 83, died unexpectedly Thursday, October 27, 2022. He was the loving husband of Ruthann (Wolf) Michener.

Born February 11, 1939, in Sellersville, PA, he was the son of the late John C. and Marion (Bates) Michener.

Lin was a loving husband, caring father, fun loving Pop Pop, and a kind, compassionate friend and brother.  He had a goofy sense of humor, always loving to make others laugh.

Lin grew up in Lansdale where he met his wife Ruthann.  He enlisted in the Army and proposed to Ruthann during a break and planned a wedding within three weeks.  Lin and Ruthann were just 2 weeks away from celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

After their wedding Lin and Ruthann moved to Petaluma, California and fell in love with the San Francisco Bay area.  He became a lifelong San Francisco 49ers fan.  Lin and Ruthann started their family in San Francisco and eventually moved back home and bought Ruthann's parent's home where they have lived ever since.

Lin and Ruthann's family home was a special place for family gatherings. Lin started multiple vegetable gardens, fruit trees and his pride and joy, a large strawberry patch.  The strawberry patch was special to all his grandchildren and many seasons they all gathered to pick fresh strawberries and make jam.

Lin had many hobbies and interests with his love and curiosity of life.  Some of his lifelong interests were fishing, tennis, biking and antique cars.  He loved to reminisce about his first car, a 32 Ford Deuce Coupe.  He cherished sharing his interests and hobbies with all his family including teaching his daughters to ride bikes, play tennis and fish.  Later in life, he tapped into his artistic side and began oil painting, and wood carving.  Lin made a specialized wood carving for each of his grandchildren and created a one of kind Santa smoker nutcracker with a smoking chimney.

Lin will be greatly missed by all.

Along with his wife, survivors include four daughters, Denise L. Burmester (David), New Hope, PA, Audrey R. Godshall (Brian), Oxford, PA, Amy B. Speiser (Phillip), Medford, NJ, Virginia A. Knappenberger (David), West Chester, PA; seven grandchildren, Benjamin, Abigail, Margaret, Elizabeth, Emily, Ella and Julia; siblings, Curtis, Wilmer, Kenneth and David Michener, Helen Apple and Alice Leber.

He is predeceased by siblings, Eugene Michener and Barbara Shaw.

The family will receive friends Thursday, November 3, 2022,  starting 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at Heidelberg United Church of Christ, 1101 Cowpath Rd., Hatfield, PA 19440, with the Funeral at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at New Goshenhoppen Cemetery, East Greenville, PA, with military honors to be rendered by the US Army.
