We mournfully announce the passing of Margaret (Peggie) Trejo, 95, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania. Peggie left us peacefully on January 7, 2022.
Peggie was born on May 10, 1926 in Philadelphia to John Bertman Ryan and Margaret Frances Ryan (née McGrath), both of Newfoundland, Canada. Peggie attended Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls and later the Philadelphia Conservatory of Music, now the University of the Arts, receiving bachelors and masters degrees in Music.
Peggie's biggest life-long passion was classical music. An avid pianist and organist, she spent countless hours perfecting her ability. Peggie performed in her own parish and many other churches and schools throughout the Philadelphia region, including the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul . She later taught piano to children and adults alike over many decades.
Peggie met her lifetime partner Carlos (1927-2019) while he was studying chemistry at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science, and they married in December 1951. Always the consummate adventurer, traveler, and polyglot (she spoke English, Spanish, and French fluently), Peggie didn't think twice about moving to Carlos' native Mexico where she bore three sons, John, Leonard, and Bernard. Peggie continued studying and teaching piano while raising her family. A subsequent move returned the family to East Brunswick, New Jersey where a fourth son, Robert, was born. The family would return to Mexico City for a final sojourn of 12 years.
Peggie returned to the Philadelphia suburbs in the late 1970's where she helped take care of her aging parents. She continued her career in music, serving as the pianist for the Children's Choir of Bucks County and teaching piano to many local children. Her final years were shared with Carlos at the ACTS Brittany Pointe Estates retirement community in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
Peggie is predeceased by her husband Carlos, and her two brothers, John Ryan, Jr., and Robert Ryan. She is survived by her four sons, twelve grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
Given restrictions imposed by the Covid pandemic, Peggie will be cremated and her remains will be interred at a future date at Resurrection Cemetery in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. A celebration of life gathering will be planned for that time and communicated later with friends and family.
Peggie's family offers special thanks to the staff of ACTS Brittany Pointe Estates for their loving care of both her and Carlos. In lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations in Peggie's memory to the ACTS Legacy Foundation at this link https://bit.ly/PeggieTrejoMemorial or by calling 877.287.0799.
