Nandkumar "Nandu" Rawool, MD, RSMS
August 10, 1962 - June 13, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Nandkumar Rawool, a beloved teacher, professor, author, physician and dear friend to many. Born in India, Dr. Rawool came to the US and became a resident of Lansdale, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents and uncle, of India and survived by his aunt, also of India. Dr. Rawool was a highly esteemed and respected professional in the field of Sonography and Ultrasound technology.
Dr. Rawool graduated in 1986 with his medical degree from Medical College and King Edward Memorial Hospital in Bombay, India. He joined the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJU) clinical staff in the Ultrasound Department in 1991. From there, he became an assistant and then associate professor in the Department of Radiological Sciences, and in 2004 he was appointed Program Director of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Cardiovascular Sonography programs. During his career at TJU, Dr. Rawool authored more than one hundred publications and scientific presentations. He had the distinction of being a renowned authority in his field, traveling often to train colleagues at various conferences and conventions in sonography. Professionally, he was beloved among his peers, colleagues, students and their families.
Nandu, as he was affectionately known by many, was also an active member our church family at the Greater Philadelphia Church of Christ. He will always be remembered for his love of children, and was often seen holding a baby or playing with a toddler. He was generous, welcoming and hospitable, hosting many get-togethers at his home. He organized social events of all sizes for friends and neighbors. He is, and will be, terribly missed. Our hearts go out to all here, and abroad, who are grieving deeply.
Memorial services will be held on August 7, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Lansdale, 700 N Broad St, Lansdale, PA 19446.
